Majority Democrats Chair Auchincloss on Texas Election Results
Washington, DC— Tonight, Majority Democrats Chair Congressman Jake Auchincloss released the following statement after Majority Democrats member James Talarico won the Texas Senate primary. Talarico’s win came as fellow Majority Democrat, former San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, won the Democratic primary for Bexar County Judge:
“James Talarico campaigned with energy, confidence, and authenticity. Like Majority Democrats across the country, he is connecting with voters who are fed up with the status quo and false choices of American politics.
“Being a Majority Democrat means showing up and competing everywhere. James has represented his district – and has run this campaign – by focusing on building the broadest coalition possible, not just 50% + 1.
“Donald Trump’s failed policies and divisive politics have given us an opportunity to expand the map. With Majority Democrats on the ticket this November, that expansion now includes Texas. As we continue to grow the Democratic Party to win big and govern better, leaders like James will be crucial in our effort to create a generational majority.”
Majority Democrats is a new organization committed to reshaping and growing the Democratic Party so that it can compete everywhere and deliver concrete wins for the American people. From city halls to Congress, coast to coast, Majority Democrats consistently outperform the Democratic Party as a whole. They are the next generation of Democratic leaders—willing to challenge the establishment and break with party orthodoxy. They understand what matters to their communities and know how to win, especially in the places where Democrats underperform.
